Web development can be a lot like driving in traffic. You’re inching along, making a little progress, but honestly not enough to get you there before you’ve spent an all-nighter on the highway in the snow. Instead of turning back like a sane person, you press on. I mean hey, you have already invested this much time right?

We were contacted by a design and dev shop who was making a pitch to a new client to use Craft CMS for a site redesign. The whole deal was gated on Craft being able to get form submission data into the client’s Microsoft Dynamics GP install. Going from PHP into Windows usually includes a little bit of death and dismemberment, but we at Solspace dig on that sort of thing. So we took the deal.

Opportunistic is an adjective with a bad rap. If you claim it, people might think you’re ready and waiting to take advantage of others. They’ll expect the worst from you. Connotative synonyms for opportunistic include unscrupulous, unprincipled, devious and cunning – but also resourceful and adaptable which are more in line with the word’s first definition “taking advantage of opportunities”. There’s an old Winston Churchill line that goes, “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
